Senior leaders from Société Générale were brought together for a day to learn design thinking in the morning and then in the afternoon were invited to share stories of innovation in Société Générale – a time when they’d seen it really working. From these stories the teams looked for enablers, barriers and opportunities using the skills of design thinking they had learnt earlier in the day.
Next the teams were given a pack of innovation behaviour cards which represent established behaviours for organisations that exemplify the systematic application of innovation and create market impact as a result. They mapped where SG was already displaying those behaviours and where they weren’t yet. Then they had to prioritise which behaviours SG should focus on supporting and create an experiment and prototype to support one or two of them in the next six months.
